Hey Doc Park,
How come you never talk about real medical stuff?
I mean all it ever seems you talk about is addiction and psychology mumbo jumbo.
I need some practical advice. And I need it now!
Alright. Calm down my friend.
The truth is…..health is more than just physical. You are mind, body, spirit. So to neglect any is to neglect all.
But maybe I have neglected some of the things most folks would assume a good doctor would talk about.
Let’s talk about hypertension.
High blood pressure has been associated with some serious problems: heart disease, stroke, and kidney failure.
More important than treating high blood pressure is knowing what’s causing it.
If your blood pressure is high, go talk to your doctor. But remember hypertension doesn’t come with any symptoms. Some people can tell when their blood pressure is high but often this is after it is dangerously elevated. So regular check ups with your doctor may be in order if you have high blood pressure just to make sure it’s controlled.
Okay enough of all that.
Let’s get down to the nitty gritty.
Here’s a simple trick to lower your blood pressure that works as well as many medications.
It’s going to take you 30 minutes a day.
But you don’t have to do it all at once.
You can break it up into blocks. 5 minutes x 6. 10 minutes x 3. 15 minutes x 2. Etc.
What is this simple trick that anyone can do? And can even do in the comfort of their own home?
EXERCISE.
Doc Park,
I just knew you were going to say something stupid like that.
Sorry bro.
But it’s true.
30 minutes of exercise a day can lower your blood pressure about 4-9mm Hg.
That doesn’t seem like a lot.
Well it is.
And combine exercise with some clean eating and you’ve got a recipe for health.
Don’t just stop all your meds at once though. Go talk to your doctor.
Don’t worry about what kind of exercise. Just do something. Fun is better than boring. But maybe you don’t think any of it is fun. That’s okay……do it any way.
30 minutes a day.
Run, walk, bike, swim, box, basketball, jump rope, jumping jacks, boot camp, kettlebells. Whatever works.
I’ll see you out there.
p.s.
This is not medical advice. Oh wait……yes it is.
