These 5 Stoic Quotes Might Just Change Your Life

Life is tough.

And as the saying goes, “the struggle is real.”

Stress, anxiety, regret, depression.  It affects us all.  But it doesn’t have to control our lives.

The ability to project and plan sets us apart as humans.  But often, it comes with a price.

Do you spend most of your day time traveling?  Depressed about the past or stressed about the future.

It’s okay.  We all do.

But in this moment….right now….let’s pause.  Take a deep breath.  Drink some coffee.  Say a prayer of thanks.  And be present.

I put together a few quotes, that if practiced, can really make a difference in your life.

5 Stoic Quotes that I think could change your life for the better:

There is only one way to happiness and that is to cease worrying about things which are beyond the power of our will.”

—Seneca

“What you have inside you.  That’s going to save you.  If you don’t have anything inside you, it’s going to kill you.”

—Jesus

Whatever happens to you has been waiting to happen since the beginning of time.  The twining strands of fate wove both of them together.”

—Marcus Aurelius

Cling tooth and nail to the following rule: not to give in to adversity, never to trust prosperity, and always take full note of fortune’s habit of behaving just as she pleases, treating her as if she were actually going to do everything it is in her power to do. Whatever you have been expecting for some time comes as less of a shock.”

—Seneca

You are you. Now, isn’t that pleasant?”

—Dr Seuss

p.s.

I know things are sometimes easier said than done.  I get that.  But it doesn’t hurt to have a little inspiration from time to time.

If you’d like to read how I mix stoic philosophy and Christianity to worry less…

Bonus quote

“God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
Courage to change the things I can,
And wisdom to know the difference.”

The Serenity Prayer by Karl Paul Reinhold Niebuhr

“Today I escaped anxiety. Or no, I discarded it, because it was within me, in my own perceptions — not outside.” — Marcus Aurelius
