Memento Mori is the practice of reflecting on one’s death and the frailty of life.
It means “Remember death” or “Remember that you will die.”
Symbolized by a skull.
We’re all going to die. Might be today. Might be tomorrow.
Death and taxes. The two certain necessities in life.
My job brings me face to face with our frail mortality every day.
The lurking death is beyond our control.
We can tip toe around it as much as we’d like but it’s here for us. Breathing down our necks.
It started whispering our name the second we were conceived.
There’s no use in running.
But this should not make us feel sad or weak or meaningless.
Instead it should give us the courage to do the only thing we can do…..
LIVE!
We face our demons and we fight.
We hold on as long as we can.
With a smile and a blood stained axe.
This is the way.
This is the way home.
