the rest of your day

5:29 AM

I’m thinking about the rest of the day.

I don’t want to go the gym.

I don’t want to go to work.

I don’t want to put on pants.

This is reality.

But the choice I make today, creates the world I live in tomorrow.

So I’m going to get out of this chair.

And get to it.

I have a patient that has lost 40 pounds in the last few months. He didn’t do this by staying in the chair.  He did this by getting up and getting on with it.

“Better to get the thing done then have it hang over your head.”  I read that once, and man oh man, it rings true.

Make a positive change.  It’s going to be difficult and painful.  So be it.

Here’s the deal…

Don’t wait until the last minute and use your “will power”.  Instead, prepare the day before.

If you want to start walking in the mornings, then have your clothes and shoes already out and waiting for you.

Still don’t feel like it?

Then just put the shoes on and lace them up.

Still having the nagging pull of apathy?

Put your headphones in and play some motivational music.

Do everything else but the dreaded task. Once you’re finished, the rest will fall into place.

Here’s a plan for you:

  1. Get out of bed
  2. Drink some coffee
  3. Pray
  4. Walk 3 miles, then do 50 push ups
  5. Write it down in a notebook
  6. Eat some eggs
  7. Drink more coffee

Now get on with the rest of your day.
