Why Everyone Needs a Kitten

“We have to get at least 2”

This was my wife’s suggestion.

One kitten wouldn’t be enough.  It didn’t matter that we have 5 kids and 3 dogs.  We needed 2 cats.

“They’ll keep each other company.  And don’t worry, they’ll stay OUTSIDE”.  My wife’s promises, as good as gold.

Fair enough.

Right now…I’m watching them run around, chase each other, and scratch the furniture.  The litter box is inside.  The food is inside.  The cats are…… INSIDE.

But they’re kittens.  So what are you going to do?

Because kittens are, let’s be honest for a moment……kittens are adorable.

Always purring and trying to look innocent.  (Even though we know better)

But that’s not the point.

The point is….

Never underestimate the power of bringing something good in your life.

Even if it’s something small.

Maybe your world doesn’t have to completely turn around.

Maybe you just need a small victory.

Maybe you’re lazy so you decide to start every day with a 5 mile walk.

Maybe you’re depressed so you start your day by watching 30 minutes of comedy.  (Because laughter is good medicine)

Maybe you’re anxious so you adjust your diet to reduce sugar and stimulants.

Maybe you’re lonely so you decide to volunteer to sit with the elderly.

Maybe you’re unemployable so you decide to learn a new skill.

Maybe you struggle with addiction so you decide to minimize and clean out a closet.

Every good turn in your life will start with a decision.  Your choice on how to live this moment.

I don’t know what your maybe is.  But maybe you do.

And maybe all you need is a small push in the right direction.

Might I suggest a kitten….

or 2
