Thoughts Become Things (Is the Law of Attraction Real?)

I’m sitting outside and watching the snow fall on the Smoky Mountains.

The world is a mysterious place.  Full of happiness, tragedy, adventure, and loss.

And sometimes…..a bit of magic.

What if I told you there was a way to create things out of thin air? Or to make possibilities when none seem evident.  Or to find a way to succeed in the least likely situations.

Yeah, I know it sounds crazy.

I think if I told you all the wonderful and weird things that have happened to me in this life, you’d either say I was lucky, lying, or just plain crazy. I don’t understand it all.  But I’m willing to accept the possibility.

Here are a few examples. (They will seem little more than coincidence to you.  But, I know the truth.  I can’t tell you all of them.  And I can’t explain the big ones.  I’m not sure you’re ready for all that just yet.)

I wrote a blog post once.  I had one specific person in mind.

He later commented on the post.

I didn’t mention him or tell him to read it.

It was a complete coincidence.

Or was it?

I once prayed that I would not be happy unless I married a girl like……..

We’ve been married for 17 yrs and counting.

My wife and I were trying to decide if we should take in any more children.  I told her we would if it was a boy and his name was____.  Later, I forgot the name so I told her, a different name.

A few months later, we got a call.

Can we agree that there are a lot of strange ideas out there?

And maybe one of the strangest is the Law of Attraction.

Or at least that’s what I thought at first.

(Well actually the first thing I thought was that it had something to do with picking up girls.  But it’s not that kind of attraction.)

It’s about having a belief so strong that it forms the reality around you.

It’s about pulling the things you want into your life.  A giant psychic magnet.

Some people say it’s God.  Others are afraid to use this term, so they call it the Universe.  While others will be content to explain a million rational possibilities to these supposed mystical experiences.

We’re aren’t talking about miracles.  The Law is a law of nature and thus follows the laws of the universe.  It’s mystical physics.  A lot of people believe in God.  They believe in prayer.   And they say they believe in faith.  But there is a difference in faith and hope.  A difference in wishing and believing.

Let’s be clear.  The law of attraction will not cure disease, raise the dead, or make you live forever.  But it can open up a path for you.  It can shine light into your darkness.

How do thoughts become things?

To begin down this path, you need to know where you are and where you want to go.  Sounds easy enough, but most of us don’t know what we want.

We kind of just wander aimlessly.  Taking in the scenery.  Sometimes enjoying the ride, sometimes not.  Oblivious to any potential for change.

I know people that I swear DO NOT WANT ANYTHING GOOD TO HAPPEN TO THEM.   And that’s a crazy thought.  But every action they make confirms this statement.

At some point you just have to say enough is enough.  I’m ready.  Ready for something better.

Don’t proceed further until you’ve decided what you truly want. Because the rabbit hole goes deep.  And I can not assure your safety.

Okay, so you know what you want.  You know exactly where you want to go.  Now what?

Thoughts become actions.  Actions make us who we are.

How do you use the Law of Attraction?

  1. Go on a vision quest.
  2. Connect your body and your mind.
  3. Allow your soul to lead you.
  4. Speak the future.

And boom……weird things will happen.

I just hope you’re ready for the fallout.

p.s.

Prayer isn’t about wishing or magic.

p.p.s

I don’t always write about weird stuff.  Sometimes, I write about addiction, anxiety, depression, and faith. Or sometimes I just talk.

Dr Parks, I don’t know if you remember me but I did my clinical at your facility. I’m Felicia Ivy. I will never forget the kindness that you and Dr Ostrander and your office personal showed me. I’m now a traveling nurse and I love it for the most part. I find myself feeling lonely and sad sometimes. I know we speak and think things into existence per say but it’s so hard for me to believe for myself. Thank you for this article, I will read it over and over again.

Felicia, it’s great to hear back from you. My oldest daughter wants to be a traveling nurse. I think she forgets that she will actually have to work wherever she travels and it’s not an actual vacation. hahaha. Have you traveled anywhere fun?

I am sorry to hear that you feel sad at times. But I would like to let you know that it is perfectly normal to feel that way. It is a normal human emotion. So do not feel guilty or ashamed. Often we don’t know why we are going through what we’re going through until it’s over. It’s always easier to see with hindsight. Sometimes the best thing to do is to stare it in the face right from the get go, which is what is seems you are doing. That is good.

I’ve been reading a bit on the concept of virtue. It means living for the purpose you were created. It means being brave. Having courage. Standing for what’s right. And putting in the hard work. Even when times are difficult. Especially when times are difficult.

      Godspeed.

      And thanks for sharing.
